Although the name is just Tortuga's, it is actually "Tortuga's Tres" because it is the 3rd addition to an already successful pair of Tortuga restaurants.

In 2000, Tortuga's was also voted the Princeton Packet's "readers choice" as the best Mexican restaurant in the Princeton area.
Tortuga's Cantina, located in Trenton, NJ was opened by Jennifer Jefferis in 1999 and has enjoyed the same success as the original.
Tortuga's Mexican Eatery, located in Collegeville, PA is opening soon by Cathy Jefferis-Hvazda.

How the restaurant got its name... Tortuga is the spanish word for Turtle, which is Jennifer Jefferis' nickname. Viewed by other employees as being "as slow as turtle" when waitressing, Jennifer would take her time ensuring that her customers were taken care of. |
